Man Day/ Girl Day

One of our favorite days of the term is Man Day/ Girl Day. Of course our family tends to spend more time involved in the Man Day because that is where all the boys want to be. But I have a feeling that as Collins gets older we will be partaking in lots more of those Girl Day activities.

This term the Rapp boys went to the "How to Start a Campfire" session. Here Connor and Carter are working with kindling to build a log cabin campfire. (At least I think that is right!)

Still at work...the wood is getting bigger.

But the best part of the story happens here. After building the different types of campfires, Drew Morrill and Luke Crane explained a couple of ways that you could actually start a fire if you DIDN'T have a match. As they finished this lesson, Colton raised his hand and said, "I know another way that you can start a fire...with a match!"  So true Colton!

While the boys were busy, Collins and I went to the Komo Dance Off in the girls' gym. She was obviously loving the entertainment!

For dinner the Komo Leadership team and KPD's put on a Disney dinner theater performance. The ladies asked if Collins could be baby Simba for the Circle of Life routine. So we found our furriest/ ruffliest outfit and spiked her hair.

Collins did great. Never fussed or cried when Rafiki held her high above the kampers.

The boys finished off the day with some time on the blob. Here they are tossing Colton into the pool. Contrary to his facial expression, he really was having a great time.

This time everyone was falling in.

Summer Pictures

There are so many fun pictures from our summer at K-West! Each one is a great memory.

Hunter is looking a lot like a K-West kamper these days. I notice it especially when we are in the dining hall. Sometimes when he goes to the counter to refill a food platter he is taller than some of the Kuk kampers that he is standing beside. Wow!

Carter was helping the kitchis make oreo balls. Delicious! Colton was probably sampling the Gatorade.

I don't remember what he was doing, but Connor was giving me the evil eye!

Collins was trying to watch the Bumblebee while I cleaned out her high chair.

Oh yeah, this is my man! I think he tortured that chicken.

Bumblebee

Colton had been talking about doing the Bumblebee for days! He was so excited to perform in front of all the Kuk kampers. So Todd made it happen. It was daddy bumblebee and little bumblebee. Colton started out in a box in the middle of the table and when the music hit, he popped out! He looked really nervous while it was going on, but to his credit he never cried or stopped. He just kept bouncing around and blowing his whistle. Way to go Colty!

Big Chief and Little Chief

Last week Todd was Big Chief for the K-West Opening Tribal Ceremony. As a special treat, he asked Hunter if he wanted to be the Little Chief. Basically Hunter's job was to lead the Chiefs and Princesses out of the teepee and to hold Big Chief's bow and arrows. He did a super job! He is our Little Chief. He painted his own face for the tribal ceremony.

I couldn't take pictures during the ceremony, but I did get a picture of Big Chief and Little Chief afterwards. No smiles allowed!

A Special Visit

We loved having Miss Ellen Davis come visit us at K-West. She is a past kid-sitter for our family and probably wins the award for pulling off the biggest stunt the Rapp boys have ever been involved with. Ellen and our other kid-sitter, Derek Nassick, were the creators of the UP house. It was impressive!

Thanks for loving our family Ellen! And for coming to see us. We think you are wonderful.
