Collins tried on her little fur cape last night and during the photos, she would not let go of the hairbrush. Each time I took it away, she hollered.

Surprise Visit!

My parents surprised us last night and drove to Branson after their last event in Kansas City. With their permission, I texted friends to invite them over to see the KK Cruiser. It was like having a Krispy Kreme event in our own driveway. Here are some of the kids in front of the bus.

The Adventures of KK and Boompah

My parents have a "sweet" job. What do they do? Well, they are traveling the country in this Krispy Kreme Cruiser to celebrate KK's 75th Birthday. As employees of RCR racing and Krispy Kreme, they do events at Krispy Kreme stores and lots of other locations. My dad is totally in charge of the bus and he is great at it! My mom handles the social media aspects of the tour. They get to meet and talk to so many people. For years my kids have called my mom KK and so this gig seems perfect for my parents.  KK and Boompah are cruising on the KK Cruiser. We headed to Kansas City this week because their travels had finally brought them to the Midwest and we were excited to see them. They have some crazy fun adventures to tell about.

The Money Museum

This week we went to Kansas City to see my parents. While they were busy with one of their Krispy Kreme events, we took the kids to the Money Museum. This was a great field trip and I officially declared that it was our "school" for the day. Kansas City is home to one of the twelve Federal Reserve Banks in the United States. Inside the museum you can watch millions of dollars in currency be processed. (Imagine the movie "Mad Money")

One of our favorite parts of the museum was a collection of the coins that were minted under each U.S. President. It was cool to see coins from the 1700's. Plus, there is an interactive station that lets you design your own dollar bill complete with your picture and then you can email it yourself. It was a great outing. If you are in Kansas City, you should check it out. The museum is free and super interesting!

This display showed how big a stack of 1 million, 10 million, 20 million and 40 million dollars would be. Connor was trying to steal some I think.

See, we learned stuff! Therefore the trip to the musuem = school.

After several weeks of being apart, the Engram and Rapp boys finally got together to play. We swapped two boys each and Amy sent me these cute pictures from their adventures at the park.

BINGO

Woo hoo! Carter won a game of Bingo while we were at Big Cedar this week. He was super happy with all the candy he received as a prize. 

Recent news/ funny events

Colton has lost the privilege of chewing gum because he has been disposing of his gum on the floor mats in our van. As we were in the van last week he asked for gum; I reminded him that he isn't allowed to have any. He asked how long it would be until he could have gum again. Just trying to end his questions I told him, "Maybe 100 days." He answered, "But mom, I might die before then."

Hunter had two teeth removed today. After a first consult with an orthodontist, we found out that Hunter still had twelve baby teeth! They recommended that he have four teeth extracted. So, two down and two to go.

We ate lunch at Taco Bell yesterday and it was a comedy. After ordering lots of tacos we made our way to the table. I buckled Collins into her high chair and turned to help the boys. Colton spilled his water...instant waterfall off the edges of the table. While tending to the spill, a kind gentleman behind me said, "Ma'am, your baby..." As I turned around, Collins was crawling out of the high chair and onto the table. It was a crazy moment, but I smiled! I don't always smile when it gets crazy, but in this moment God's grace was all over it.

Yesterday we had fun with a soda bottle rocket launcher. Special thanks to Dave Cribbs who built this for the Rapp boys! Todd was getting the bicycle pump ready.

3, 2, 1...Pull!

I wasn't fast enough on the camera to get a picture of the bottle, just the stream of water that came out of the bottle as it rocketed toward the sky. This thing went so high!

Big Cedar

For the past several years Kanakuk has given Kamp directors the greatest gift...a chance to get away as a family three different times during the summer. We get to check in at the Wilderness Club at Big Cedar and spend two nights. It is delightful! It is so relaxing to have a second night off, we get great time with our kids, and there are lots of resort activities to take advantage of. Here are some pictures from our most recent Big Cedar stay.

This picture was back at our cabin. The Rapp, Houston and Hampsch cabins were all right next to each other so the kids were playing. Here they are all pretending to be "dead." Todd would pick them up by their ankles and they would giggle like crazy.

What we did today...

Today the Rapp boys played Bocce ball. They even made themselves some Bocce muscles.

Made a final summer countdown to record all the adventures of the last eleven days of Kamp.
