Wax Museum

Carter's fourth grade project was the wax museum. Each student chose and researched a public figure from World War II. Carter chose Joseph Stalin. He wrote a speech and prepared a costume and last week it was show time! The idea for the wax museum was so clever. All of the fourth graders were spread out around the sanctuary. Right next to each student was a chair with a button on it that said "Press!" The characters would be frozen in place until a visitor pushed their button and then would come alive to present their speech (in the first person) about their historical person. Great idea, right? Well, by the end of the event at least 6 kids had either puked or passed out. Oh no! Carter didn't pass out, but he did say that he felt the floor sway at one point.

Newman's Castle

The TCS 6th grade class took a field trip to Newman's Castle in Bellville, TX. This castle was built by one man...and it is his home! He lets groups of people come everyday to roam through his personal dwelling. Can you even imagine?! There is moat and working trebuchet outside. I took Connor and Carter with me and they enjoyed running and exploring with their friends. They climbed up in the tower, rang the bells and checked out every bedroom (including the one with the bed of nails.) It was a fun adventure.

Little things...

We have been spending lots of time at the ballpark. At this game Holden parked himself on the front row of the bleachers to watch the game. He's sure to be a future ball player himself!

On this day Holden wanted to wear his Mickey Mouse shirt AND his Superman shirt. Without my help he put the gray shirt on as pants. Ha!

Pictures

Holden and Collins are really loving books right now. They want to us to read to them at any available moment. We have been reading this Peter Pan book quite a lot.

I love watching the big sister/ little brother dynamic between Collins and Holden. We often refer to them as "the littles." These pictures are from Easter morning at church.

Last week Collins, Holden and I ate breakfast at a new place in the Heights called Hugs and Donuts. The tables were shaped like donuts! 

We visited a party store to find a mustache for Carter. He needs it for his presentation about Joseph Stalin. At the party store, we saw this giant Jake helium balloon. The littles love watching the Disney Junior show "Jake and the Neverland Pirates."

Colton had a science project this week. Each student had been assigned a planet or one part of the Solar System to present about and Colton was given the Sun as his topic. With Todd's help, he painted and built this model. He spoke clearly and confidently as he taught his classmates facts about the Sun. Way to go Colton!

Colton

Colton is enjoying his baseball season so much! A couple of the families on the team sponsored team yard signs and cups for all of the players. Yep, that means that I have personalized styrafoam cups for each game that list all the players and their jersey number. Sure makes it easy to cheer for the boys by name! And Colton loves his personalized yard sign. We have to bring it back to every game so that we can put it near the dugout. Go Texas Rangers!

Sweet kids

It seems my posts have become less about telling a story or a specific event and more just capturing/ remembering moments from photos. So here are a few more that I want to remember.

Firefighter Holden. Todd brought this home last week from Firehouse Subs. It just just a flimsy plastic hat, but Holden loved it. He wore it for the rest of the evening. I love this picture because of his adorable bare feet and the smile on his face.

Hunter Rapp with members of his TCS 7th grade class. The students are split into different houses and they wear ties/ scarves to represent their house. Hunter is in the house of Maxwell.

Now these next two pictures are from several months ago, but I had to include them. The house of Maxwell organized a Dead Author Book Drive as their campus service project. They started a library for TCS, but not just any book can be included in this library. First, it must be quality literature (lots of classics). Second, the book must have some longevity. For example, it has to have been published before 1960 and the author has to be dead. Hunter is the historian for the house of Maxwell so he has been in charge of the book list and designing a check out sheet for students to use.

Easter Egg Hunt

On Tuesday we ventured downtown to Discovery Green for an Easter Egg hunt. No surprise that the park was packed with moms and little kids. Luckily we found a close parking space and made it to the field just in time for the hunt to begin. Holden and Collins both got to gather eggs and the big brothers made sure the candy inside the eggs disappeared in record time.

I couldn't get Holden to look at the camera because he was focused on putting eggs in his basket.

Holden kept trying to eat the candy with the wrapper still on.

Now it was Collins's turn. There were fewer kids for her age category and so she had  lots of eggs within her reach.

Yum! Now it is time to eat Collins's candy.
