Part 2 of our hospital update.

Hello beloved friends,

Bronwyn has been unplugged from the I.V.!  She has walked a couple of times today, and though in more pain than yesterday, she is obviously getting stronger.  She does have a little bit of a fever, but it seems a minor concern.  They are thinking Bronwyn will be able to go home on Friday, but maybe Saturday.  I'm considering renting a room because the service here has been phenomenal!  She will go home with a catheter to "wear" for a few days.  The hardest part for us will be leaving the hospital without our boy, who is supposed to remain at the hospital for 2-4 weeks.
and this just in....hot off the press....Baby boy Rapp has an official name:  Holden.
He is just chillin' at 92 degrees with enough morphine in his system to keep him sedated while his brain continues to improve.
Bronwyn and I have been over to see him a couple times today.  He has 28 hours or so left on the cooling blanket before they begin the warming process. He had 2 episodes of not breathing today.  He seems to maintain a grimace on his face.  It could be that he doesn't enjoy lying half-naked on a cold pad. Or maybe it's the tube taped into his mouth, or stuck in his belly button, or i.v. in his wrist or rectal thermometer.  Well,  I would be grimacing too!  I want them to stop the torture! All I want to do is scoop him up, take him home, and hold him.  I know his momma sure wants to hold him.
Bronwyn feels encouraged and hopeful as we recover in the room with continual reminders from friends.  I, too, am continually moved to tears by the expressions of love from you, and your actions of faith by your humble prayers. May God be glorified and exalted in all of this, and I strongly desire that He chooses to be exalted by healing our boy completely.
The next anticipated event is the "warming up" phase, which begins at about 12:30am on Friday, and lasts 6 hours.  That's when he will begin to come to life a little more and we will see what he can do.  I don't know how long it takes to shed the effects of morphine, but we shall see. They will be taking another E.E.G. on Monday and compare it to the one they took a week prior.
Living in the "unknown" is sometimes scary, but always adventuresome.
Our other kiddos are being well taken care of by Bronwyn's mom and Sister Alexis.  Alexis is not a nun, but a real sister.  And I don't mean just a sister in the Lord, ..... ok, i'll stop it.
All your offers of assistance have not gone unnoticed and are so appreciated.  We are so thankful for you!
On a different note, my dad is getting married in a few hours to a wonderful, fellow widower named Barbara.  We sure love her, and are grateful for their marriage.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for reaching out to us, and lifting Holden up that God may be glorified.
