Halloween in Houston provided some new experiences for the Rapp kids. We had been invited to join some other friends for trick-or-treating, but due to all day rain I doubted that it would even happen. About 4:15 I texted my friend Tricia to see if the evening festivities were still on as scheduled. They were, so that meant I had to kick it into high gear. I hollered upstairs to the boys, "We are leaving in 20 minutes. If you want a costume, find one!" I had to get babies ready, diaper bags restocked, plus get myself ready. The boys scrambled and dumped our two bins of costume clothes. When we walked out the door at 4:45, I was accompanied by a Texan football player, a ladybug, a knight and a Scottish popcorn monkey.
On our way to the party, we stopped by Jamba Juice. They were giving away free smoothies for kids so we took advantage of it! After our stop, we headed over to the Hurley's house. After being outfitted with glow sticks, we left on foot to walk to the party. Along the way the kids ran back and forth across the streets to knock on doors and gather candy. Hunter, who had not dressed up, decided that he wanted candy t oo. So he joined the trick-or-treaters dressed as...himself. Colton's costume (the knight) only lasted a few minutes and then he dumped it all in the stroller and just ran for the treats.
At the party, we met lots of new families and even saw some familiar faces. Our kids jumped right in with the other kids and had a fun night of trick-or-treating. I asked the boys afterwards if they liked the trick-or-treating and overall they did. All agreed that they didn't like all the scary decorations in people's yards. Seriously, why do people feel like it is OK to put gruesome, scary decorations in front of their house when kids will be stopping by? One fun fact: Mary Lou Retton was dropping her daughter off at the party that we were at. Yes, the real Mary Lou Retton! So we got a glimpse of the famous Olympic gymnast.
I don't think we took nearly enough pictures from our evening (none at all of Carter and Colton), but here are a few that Todd did take. Collins donned a hand-me-down costume from her cousin Finley and went as a ladybug. I didn't change her clothes before we left (no time!), so she had purple legs.
Hey, who left the baby in the middle of the street?
Collins and Hunter running down the street. Collins kept saying, "Really fast Hunter, really fast!"
This was the funniest part of the night. At the Hurley house, Colton had donned some glow-in-the-dark sideburns and mustache. But at the party, the sticky facial hair was traded to Holden. The boys called this look: Mayor of Geyser Gulch.

Cute walking buddies during our night of trick-or-treating. Connor was dressed as a Scottish popcorn monkey - a costume he made up by himself. Scottish: the wig. Popcorn: the pants look like a popcorn box. Monkey: I'm not quite sure.
