It is a bright, sunny day here in Springfield. Todd and I are sitting in the dining room of the Ronald McDonald house having a snack. We will be headed back to he hospital fairly soon, but just wanted to write a quick post.
Holden's bandage was removed today. This bandage had been covering the spot where his central line was put in. It is healing nicely and I am thankful for every wire/ bandage/ etc. that they take off of our little guy. The other big news is that they removed his nose cannula. He is breathing on his own and they are monitoring him. So far so good! Praise God. We are continuing to pray that his breathing remains strong.
I spoke with a hospital representative today and started asking questions about after we leave the hospital. I know that we will have to have some follow-up appointments to monitor Holden's progress. Thanks to Jenna Zervas for her advice and wisdom on what questions I should ask. I know so very little about working with Occupational, Speech or Physical Therapists so I will have lots to learn. The hospital also recommended the First Steps program. Does anyone out there have experience with First Steps? Especially in the Branson area? If so, I'd love to talk with you.
Our other kids seem to be doing great. I'm sure they are loving the fact that I am behind on school lesson plans. KK keeps them well fed and makes sure they have fun - i.e. movie nights! My sister Brea is in labor right now and her little girl will probably arrive sometime tonight. How fun to have cousins so close in age!
Jake went through the First Steps program! We had a wonderful experience. I would love to answer any questions you have.
