On Friday we took the kids to a fundraiser for Kids Across America. The event was called "Run for a Kid." It was a 5K and Silent Auction with a Fun Run for the kids scheduled at the end. We weren't there for the 5K, but three of our boys were very excited about the Fun Run. In fact, it was the whole reason we stayed until the end. Colton did not want to miss this race...but then disaster struck. :)
It was a little chilly, but Collins enjoyed this giant swing while staying warm in her puffy coat.
Getting ready for the start of the Fun Run. You can see Connor, Carter (pulling up his socks) and Colton (in the striped hoodie).
On your mark, get set....GO!
The boys took off, rounded a corner - where they were hidden from view by some bushes - and then reemerged. I immediately saw Carter, but no Connor or Colton. In the jumble of legs, Colton had fallen and his big brother Connor stopped his race to help him. Our neighbor Daryl snapped this picture. Isn't it telling? Colton is distraught about the fall and Connor is genuinely worried about him. Colton did eventually calm down and we praised Connor for the way he cared for his brother.
