My all-time favorite secular band is Kool and the Gang. If you haven't heard of them, you for sure have heard their song, "Celebration." For the last few days, I've begun to think about how we will celebrate Holden's homecoming. We aren't sure WHEN they are going to let us take him home, but when that time comes, we will have some kind of a party! His brothers are so curious about Holden, and Collins is probably going to poke him a little, and giggle a lot. We won't just celebrate his life, or his arrival at home, or his first meeting with his siblings. We will celebrate you. God not only chose to bring our boy back to life, and save my wife's life, but also graciously allowed a group of people to be moved on our behalf. Our hearts and minds have not been able to grasp the depth of love and faith that have been shared within the community surrounding Holden Elijah Rapp, and the Rapp family is moved to tears daily because of your love and faith. Holden's story so far has not just been about himself, but perhaps even more marvelous is the story of God's family rallying, united in faith, reaching towards the throne of mercy. My understanding of God and confidence in Him is forever enriched. As much as my heart desires to grasp the incredible healing of Holden (that will continue for several years), I am even more touched by your spiritual movement: Praying. Caring. Praying. Giving. Praying. Calling. Praying. Providing. Praying. Loving. and Praying. Your faith is inspiring as it encourages us all to magnify the Lord. For He IS true. He IS love. He IS faithful. Always and no matter what.
Holden IS doing so well. Right now, they are just wanting him to PROVE he is ready to go home by continuing to eat and breathe well on his own. He has improved everyday. He even smiled a few times for Bronwyn and me! I think he heard us tell him that "Your brothers are ready to wrestle you to the GROUND, little man!" Ok, we didn't really tell him that.... exactly.
